AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The candidates for governor met with Mainers in Augusta today to talk about agricultural policy.
The Agricultural Council of Maine held a forum for the four gubernatorial candidates - independent Terry Hayes, Republican Shawn Moody, independent Alan Caron, and Democrat Janet Mills - to give their thoughts on agricultural policy.
The candidates were each given an hour where they were asked questions from a moderator as well as the public.
Here's what the candidates had to say about helping Maine's dairy industry.
"I understand the intricate nature of that industry and that formula enough to know that I'm not going to recommend any specific changes to it unless the folks that are doing the work say, 'We got a better idea. Here's how we can make this work better,'" says independent Terry Hayes.
